Obituary

Antonio Perez, age 81, a resident of Knox and formerly of Portage passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009. He was born on September 13, 1927 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico the son of Jose and Mercedes Perez. Antonio was married to Margarita Ramos De Perez in Puerto Rico. Antonio worked very hard as a farmer who enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar, and being with family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. Antonio is survived by his loving family; wife, Margarita Perez; sons, Francisco Perez, Puerto Rico, Luis Perez, Knox, IN, Pedro (Maria) Perez, Orlando, FL, Benjamin (Zina) Perez, Whiting, IN, Efrain (Donna) Perez, Talbott, TN, Wilfredo (Dina) Perez, Lake Station, IN, Carlos (Nereida) Perez, Puerto Rico, and Jose Perez, New Britain, CT; daughters, Nilda (Hermino "Sam") Santana, Knox, IN, Norma (Homer) Scott, Williamsport, KY, and Clara (Jose) Perez, Puerto Rico; 46 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; sister, Candida (Benedicto) Colon, Puerto Rico, and other loving family and dear friends. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Pablo J. Perez, and Domingo Perez; sisters, Marcolina Perez, Aurea Perez Rivera, and Maria Perez Rodriquez; grandson, Benjamin Santana, and great-grandson, Daveon B. Perez. A visitation for Antonio Perez will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Rees Funeral Home with Reverend Benjamin Santana, officiating. Burial will be at McCool Cemetery in Portage.
