Obituary

Doris Cox, age 81, of Portage, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by Glen, her loving husband of 55 years.

Doris was the beloved mother of five daughters: Mary Ann Cox, Debbie (Jon) Michael, Antoinette (Alva) Whited, Glenda (Walter) Sandoval and Jennifer Cox; and two sons: Brian (Paula) and Glenn Cox. She was the proud grandmother of Amber, BrieAnn, Nate, Noelle, Cameron, Brandon, Jax, Kate, Gabby, Jillian, and Will. Great-grandmother of William, Samuel, and Louis. Sister of Johnny Burks. Doris is also preceded in death by her parents Elbert Burks, Mary (Tony) Peronis, and brother Ronald Burks.

She was heavily involved in Portage Junior Miss Softball for over 25 years. When she wasn’t hosting or cooking for the holidays, she loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren, with countless sleepovers and trips to the movie theatre.

Visitation will be Saturday May 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Grace Chapel (157 Lafayette St. Valparaiso, IN) with Pastor Kevin Gerdt officiating. Interment private.
