Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Kay Szostek, age 73, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, in Hobart, Indiana. She was born on July 25, 1951, in Hammond, Indiana, and raised by Betty and David Ginter. Pat married Stanley A. Szostek III on November 4, 1972, in Lake Station, Indiana.

In addition to her loving husband of 52 years, Stanley A. Szostek III, Pat is survived by their three daughters, Stacia Szostek, Shaine Szostek, and Shanin Szostek, all of Valparaiso; three grandchildren, Zain Trupkovich, Mason Trupkovich, and Eleanor Ciecierski; a brother, John Gibbons; and a lifelong friend, Esmeralda Germain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Sharon Dickey, Sandy Cox, Mary Dunn, and Henrietta Gibbons.

Pat was a 1970 graduate of East Gary High School. She loved cooking and decorating her home for Christmas. Pat was also very interested in the history of her family and had plenty of research in their ancestry. She most enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. Music brought her great joy and she was always singing and dancing. No matter what, Pat always had a smile on her face and was always there for her family. She is everything to her family and her beautiful soul will be forever missed.

Visitation for Pat will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Avenue, Portage, IN 46368. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. the following day, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Burial will follow the service in McCool Cemetery.
