Obituary

Charlene Faye (Brant) Leffert, age 90, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024. She was born on November 28, 1933, in Walton, Indiana, to Harold and Hilda Brant.

Charlene met Cecil Leffert at a rival basketball game where he was a player and her a cheerleader. They married on July 1, 1951 at Camp Carson, CO. He went to Germany until 1953. On return to Logansport, IN Charlene worked at RBM Factory. Cecil's job with GTE took them to Portage, IN where she worked at Strauss Pie, Valparaiso Country Club as head Waitress, and then McGill Bearing for 27 years retiring in 1994. Charlene enjoyed fishing at their cottage on Christie Lake in Decanter, MI. Her main hobby was stained glass and gardening.

She is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Marty) Martin, Michelle "Mickey" (Bill) Moore; four granddaughters, Britni (Andy) Wagner, Aleece (Tony) Schuch, Andreya Moore, Heaven Moore; two grandsons, Brandon (Abby) Martin, Steve Leffert; three great-grandsons, Xavier Schuch, Edward Moore, Jonathan Moore; three great-granddaughters, Brooklyn Schuch, Delilah Leffert, and Lilly Leffert.

She was a lifetime member of American Legion #502, South Haven, Lifer of VFW #5365 in Hobart, and a member of Faith Memorial Lutheran Church in Valparaiso.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 69 years, Cecil Fredrick Leffert who passed away in 2020; son, Steven H. Leffert; and two sisters, Judith Hancock, Dolores Bartley .

Private family services for Charlene will be held, and she will be laid to rest at McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dunes Hospice at www.duneshospicellc.com/donate or mail to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso, IN, 46383.
