LEE DAVIS DEAN PORTAGE, IN Lee Davis Dean, age 82, of Portage, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He was born on October 24, 1934 in Lake Station, IN to Leslie and Clara (Jacobs) Dean, who preceded him in death. Lee is survived by his wife, Ruth Dean of Portage; children: Julie (Timothy) Kesler of Merrillville, Mark (Suzanne) Dean of Valparaiso, Eric (Lynette) Dean of Portage, Nathan (Lynne) Dean of Portage; brother, Donald Dean; Sisters, Nancy (Russel) Bible, Alice (Donald) Shingler and grandchildren, Aaron, Corey (Val), Shannon, Ryan, Katie, Zachary (Emily), Tyler, Kyle (Danielle), Austin, Mathew, Salena, and Preston. Lee was a lifelong area resident. He was an active member of Evangelical Covenant Church of Portage since childhood where he served in many roles over the years. Lee was a United States Army Veteran and owned and operated Dean's Auto Sales and Service. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Exchange Club and enjoyed the outdoors. Lee was a hunter and fisherman. He loved spending his summers at Lake of the Woods, Sioux Narrows, Ontario Canada. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church, 5051 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368 with Pastor Michaile Broadnax officiating. Burial to follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lee's honor may be made to VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383 or to Evangelical Covenant Church of Portage.
