Obituary

JOSEPH EDWARD MARTIN South Haven, Indiana Joseph Edward Martin, age 67, passed away Friday, March 3, 2006. He was born on March 22, 1938, in McKeesport, PA, the son of John L. and Magdaline P. Tyler Martin. He was a graduate of McKeesport Tech and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp for 3 years. A South Haven resident for 42 years, he attended with his family the Christ Community Church and became a member several years ago. He was employed as a Shearman Inspector for Midwest Steel for 36 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne Forrester Martin whom he married on December 24, 1956, in Dravosburg, PA. He is survived also by his loving family: son, Joseph Paul (Debbie) Martin of South Haven; daughter, Wendy (Mike) Whittinghill of Lake Station; grandchildren: Holly Martin and Joe Martin both of South Haven, Linda and Steven Whittinghill both of Lake Station and David Martin of South Haven; brother, John Richard (Ruth) Martin of Glasport, PA; nieces and nephews; other close family members and many friends. Mr. Martin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and a good friend to everyone who met him. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana 46368. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 79*3 Grand Blvd., Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Pastor Gary Culp officiating.
