Obituary

Jacqueline Irene Pratl, age 81, of Portage Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was born on October 7, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Vilma (Mlinarcik) Mraz. Jacqueline married John P. Pratl on September 25, 1965, in Chicago Illinois.

Jacqueline is survived by her children, Diana (Craig) Van Schouwen, of Valparasio Indiana, John E. Pratl, of Dyer Indiana, Dawn (Jim) Morris of Portage Indiana; grandchildren, Alexandra (fiancé Luke Grygo) Pratl, Jacob (Alesha) Van Schouwen, Bennett Van Schouwen, Mallory Morris, James (fiancée Chloe Morrison) Morris, Cody Morris, Mya Pratl; great-grandchild, Colton Morris-Burnett; siblings, Nancy Kelley, Wayne (Peggy) Mraz, Dennis Mraz (Linda Rosati); many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, John Paul Pratl; parents, Edward and Vilma Mraz;

Jacqueline graduated from Gage Park High School, Chicago IL. She was an active member of Nativity of our Savior Catholic Church. Jacqueline retired from St. Mary's Medical Center after 33 years of dedicated service with them. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and spending quality time with them. Jacqueline enjoyed going on family vacations, especially cruises, going out to eat and playing bingo. She will be deeply missed by so many who knew and loved her.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10 am at Nativity of our Savior Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd. Portage, IN 46368, with Father Kevin McCarthy officiating. Burial at McCool Cemetery, Portage Indiana immediately following.
