Obituary

Ellis “Gene” McLemore, 82, of LaPorte, passed peacefully at 2:45 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 at his home.

He was born on March 11, 1942, in Carbon Hill, Alabama, to Joseph and Willie (Dobbins) McLemore.

On March 6, 1961, Gene married Eva Armitta Stowers, who preceded him in death.

Gene enjoyed woodworking and loved to build bird houses and small model homes. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Gene loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his children, Donald (Denise) McLemore of Michigan City, Charles (Janelle) McLemore of LaPorte and Barbara (James Foldenhouer) Ream of Michigan City; one sister, Joyce Tarnow of Portage; fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Joe McLemore; one sister, JoAnn; granddaughter, Jessica McLemore.

Cremation will take place. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd. LaPorte, (219) 362-3100, is caring for the arrangements. Private burial will be at McCool Cemetery in Portage.
