ELFRIEDE M. SWANSON “Frieda” Lake Station, Indiana Age 79, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2006. She had been a Lake Station and Gary area resident since 1956. Frieda had been a member of American Legion Post No. 100 Auxiliary and the World War II War Mothers. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who loved gardening, cooking and baking. Survivors: 3 sons: Detlev “Dave” Knappe of Lake Station, Dietmar “Dan” (Roxane) Knappe of Westville and Michael J. (Crystal) Newby of Westville; 1 daughter: Barbara C. (Steven) Miller of Lake Station; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Memorials are preferred for family wishes. Funeral services Monday, January 23, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, Chaplain Phil Muvich, officiating. Burial McCool Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with an American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 100 service at 7:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, Lake Station.
