to Live With Son.
Death again invaded the fast thinning ranks of civil war veterans of Chaplain Brown Post, Grand Army of the Republic, today, when it sounded taps for Charles S. Arnold of this city.
Mr. Arnold died at 8 a.m. in Speedway hospital, Chicago, of infirmities superinduced by old age. He was ninety years of age.
Born on May 22, 1839, in Cayuga county, New York, a son of Elisha and Phebe (Sayles) Arnold, both natives of New York, he came with his parents to Porter county when he was six years of age.
Mr. Arnold followed farming in Union township for many years. He served with an Indiana regiment diuring the civil war, and was a member of the local G.A.R. post.
For a number of years he resided on North Michigan Ave., but two years ago went to Brookfield, IL., to reside with a son. He entered the Chicago hospital six weeks ago for treatment.
Surviving are three sons, George S. Arnold a farmer, residing near Wheeler; Ralph H. Arnold of Pittsburgh, PA., and Don S. Arnold of Brookfield, IL. He also has nine grandchildren.
The body will be brought her to the Stinchfield-Fehrman undertaking parlors where services will be held. Burial will be in McCool cemetery.
