Obituary

Betty Marsh, age 86 of Valparaiso, IN passed away on September 25, 2025. Betty was born July 10, 1939, to the late Cortland Antle and Janie Florence Harper Thompson in Bremen, Kentucky. She has been an area resident all her adult life.

Betty was a homemaker, loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a Christian and member of Unity Baptist Church. She married Ronald Marsh in 1968. They moved to South Haven in 1974 where she has resided ever since. Ronald preceded her in death in May of 2008. She is also preceded in death by one son, Michael E. Marsh of South Haven, daughter-in-law, Carla Gish; siblings, Margie Summer (James), Billy Thompson (Wanda), Roger Thompson, all of Central City, Kentucky; Mary Nell Sallee (RC) of Evansville, IN, and Jerry Thompson (Barbara) of Tennessee; and niece, Kay Reynolds.

Betty is survived by son, Ronnie J. Gish of Lake Station, daughter, Debra Boksa (John), daughter-in-law, Kristin Marsh of South Haven, four grandchildren; Jennifer Dudeck (Adam), Derek Boksa (Jessica), Travis Marsh (Cass), and Hanna Potts (Cody), and one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Dudeck. Betty is also survived by her beloved and devoted companion, Robert Maples and many nieces and nephews.

Betty loved being outdoors, sitting around a fire, and spending time with her family and church family.

Visitation will be held on, October 1, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, and funeral ceremony to follow at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN with Matt McAfee and Terry Wallace of Unity Baptist officiating.
