Obituary

ANNA M. MILLER, age 62, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born on September 3, 1950 in rural Honey Creek, IL to Ernest and Annabelle Patten. Anna married her high school sweetheart, Carl Miller, on July 6, 1968. She was a committed teacher for 27 years in the River Forest Community Schools. Anna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
Anna is survived by her husband, Carl Miller, Jr.; 2 sons, Carl (Erika) Miller, III of Lake Station and Daniel (Tina) Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA; 7 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Norma (Burt) Varga of Lake Station, Judy (Wilbur) Charnetzky of Valparaiso, and Barbara (Jim) Smith of Lake Station; other loving family and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul W.R. Patten, Sr.
A funeral service for Anna will be Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m at Deep River Church of Christ, 7500 Grand Blvd., Merrillville with Mr. Ron Buche officiating and Pastor Bill Holley of Eastview Christian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage and for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Deep River Church of Christ.
